Looking Great with ROC Retinol Correxion

Disclosure: This post is sponsored by RoC and I received product and/or payment in exchange for an honest post.

In my mind, I’m still in my late-20s or early 30s. One of my best friends is 24 years old and when we are together you wouldn’t know by listening to us that we weren’t two young women talking about silly things women talk about. I’m not much different from my mother when it comes to being young at heart. I was raised to believe that age is only a number and I own this way of thinking in everything I do in my life.

That’s why when I hear the term “for your age,” it irks me. According to a recent survey from RoC Skincare, more than 60% of women say they have altered their behavior after being told their actions were not “age-appropriate”. Can’t people tell that I’m not old and I don’t want to ACT old?

Just recently, I was with a group of peers at a conference and we were doing an icebreaker where we had to go around the room to introduce ourselves. The exercise was to share two truths and one lie about ourselves. I thought about it and came up with the following (see if you can identify the lie):

  1. My husband is 13 years younger than I am.
  2. I’m over 50 years old.
  3. I’m starting my Ph.D. in January at FIU.

When I was finished, over half the group said that there was no way that I was over 50 years old. When I revealed that in fact I just turned 51 they were amazed. I heard everything to how great I look “For Your Age” to things like I would have thought you were in your late 30s. The rest of the group guessed that my husband couldn’t possibly be 13 years younger, but in fact, he is. This got tons of “go girls” and “you cougar” comments. The lie was that I’m not starting my Ph. D. in January, but I am starting my graduate degree in January for a Masters in HR Management.

Yes, I’m 51 and I’m getting my Master’s Degree. I don’t plan on stopping there either. I’m sure I’ll be one of the oldest in the program, but a woman can be and can do anything she wants to do, regardless of her age! You are never too old to learn and there is nothing sexier than a smart woman! Age is only a number. My mind is young and my spirit is definitely young. I am aging with grace, beauty, and intelligence and I’m proud of it!

How do I ensure I stay beautiful on the outside? With products such as RoC RETINOL CORREXION MAX Daily Hydration Créme. Like I mentioned, I’m pretty smart so when it comes to finding the brands that work I do my research before endorsing them and I have found that retinol works great for me.I’m a mom, I’m a working woman, and I’m NOT 25 anymore…but so what? Join me and women like actress Thandie Newton who are flipping the script on this #ForYourAge conversation. Help us reset the vocabulary by sharing your #ForYourAge story to eliminate the negative connotations associated with aging.
