Our Lexus Road Trip: St. Cloud FL to Atlanta GA #LexusRoadTrip #TypeACon
For our #LexusRoadTrip we drove a Lexus GS450h from St. Cloud, Florida to Atlanta for the Type A Parent Conference #TypeACon. We fell in love with this vehicle the moment this Starfire Pearl beauty was delivered to our driveway. The GS is not just another pretty face; behind its sleek and sexy façade lies a very powerful and fuel efficient hybrid 338 HP V-6 engine. Yes I said hybrid… Having driven many other hybrid vehicles I have never experienced power like I found in this Lexus. This baby goes 0-60 in less than 6 seconds! and believe it or not we only had to fill up the tank ONE TIME each way! We arrived to our destination in record time!
The heads up display is perfect for keeping your speed in check on long road trips such as this one. With it, you never have to lift you palm from the steering wheel to check your speed. I personally don’t use cruise control in order to stay alert and focused, so I especially appreciated this feature.
Check out all the seat adjustments! There are even controls for adjusting the headrest.
Even more than the heads up display, I appreciated the Blind Spot Monitor which kept us alerted (via the side view mirrors) to vehicles we may not have otherwise seen on either side in our blind spots. We felt safer and more secure in this vehicle than any other to date. With this feature you no longer have to check 800 times in the mirror and contort your neck out of shape when you need to make a quick or unexpected lane change! Getting back into our own car was a bit of an adjustment as we had grown accustomed to an increased sense of awareness. We think every vehicle manufacture should include this feature!
The steering and suspension of the GS was also impressive. The ride was smooth as silk and with a turning circle of 36.8 FT this machine truly “turns on a dime!”
The worst part of our whole trip was giving this vehicle back. Hopefully one day we will have a Lexus GS450h of our own!
