Ford Ecoboost 400 at Homestead Miami Speedway

When we got the letter from the Editorial Director for Ford Social inviting us to the Ecoboost 400 race in Homestead Miami we could hardly believe what we were reading. Seriously, we really didn’t believe it until we investigated a little further. Once we found out it was for real (in my best NASCAR voice) we just freaked slap out!

We have always been huge fans of Ford Social and Ford Motor Company. I don’t know many former Ford Technicians and Service Advisors turned blogger that have been flown out to Detroit for the International Auto Show and have actually been inside the Dearborn Truck Plant to take pictures and blog about it! I mean how lucky can one guy be? Having been invited out to get the VIP treatment at Homestead Miami Speedway for the last race of the season had us super stoked to say the least. We felt like Henry Ford was smiling down on us from heaven.

The flight from Orlando to Miami was short and sweet and our driver was there to meet us as soon as we stepped off the plane. Eden Roc was absolutely beautiful and we had a great time mingling with folks and getting settled in. For me the fun started before we even got to the track. For me it’s the little things that really make my day…

Woot woot! Receiving a police escort to and from the track was definitely one of the highlights of the trip for me. Motorcycle cops were buzzing around everywhere shutting down intersections and speeding us through. At one point we even got to drive on the wrong side of the road. Watching the oncoming traffic bearing down on us was exhilarating. Not only did our escort make us feel special, it also saved us a lot of time in traffic.

Just before we arrived to the racetrack we were given all of our passes. With all the lanyards around are necks we pretty much had total access.

We even got a chance to meet Ricky Stenhouse Jr and Chris Buescher!

Riding on the track with a professional driver and then getting to drive solo was awe inspiring and one of the most exciting things I’ve ever done. I’ve never had so much fun turning left! Woo hoo!!!

As if life couldn’t get any better we learned that we would be driving F150’s on the track to start the race and we would be transporting the drivers in the bed of the truck! We felt so honored to have been given this opportunity. Here it was from our point of view.

We were really excited to see Jason Aldean and he definitely did not disappoint. That boy sure knows how to put on a show! I sure hope he comes to Orlando soon.

Watching the race from the skybox was great. From our vantage point high above the stands, we had a clear view of the entire track and a bit of shade too! We were also given walkie talkies so we could listen in on drivers talking to their pit crews. All we had to do is enter the number of the car and we knew exactly what was going on. What a great way to experience a race!

Its really hard not to feel patriotic at a NASCAR event! The aerial displays were impressive.

Although we were provided food and drinks the track food was really calling my name. The smell of BBQ brisket was almost more intoxicating than the cold beer! I want to send a shout out to all those hard working men and women that kept the cooler full of beer. We couldn’t have drank it without you!

We spent the last day at Eden Roc relaxing at the beach and taking pictures of all the stuff that happened to wash up on the shore. Miami is such a beautiful place!

We are so thankful for the many adventures we have been on with Ford Social. Getting to write about a brand that has been such a big part of my life since I was a young man is more fulfilling than words can describe. Ford Motor Company and Ford Social will always have a special place in my heart!
