FlightHub Presents: The Best Spots to Read in Montreal

Despite the misconception, many bookworms do in fact love to travel. Sometimes it’s through the words on a page, other times it’s through the sky. But should you ever find yourself book in hand while in Montreal, FlightHub suggests these great local spots to fulfill all your reading needs while traveling. FlightHub Review presents the top 5 best spots to cozy up and read in Montreal.

The Westmount Greenhouse

The first place FlightHub suggests to go is the Westmount Greenhouse. Located in the city of Westmount, the greenhouse is among the oldest in the country nearing 88 years of servicing the public of Westmount. Styled in a Victorian fashion, the greenhouse is filled with lush and thriving plant life. Enjoy a coffee and a book while sitting next to a serene fountain, or people watch from the benches. Whatever your reason for going to the greenhouse, you won’t be disappointed with the outcome.

Westmount Public Library

Just steps from the beautiful greenhouse lies the Westmount Public Library. Much like the rest of the public space, the library is warm, inviting and the perfect spot to cozy up and read your book while on your travels. Enjoy the interior design and architecture, and imagine yourself brought back to a world in the not-so-distant-past.

Bibliotheque et Archives Nationales du Quebe

The Bibliothèque et Archives Nationales du Quenec is one of the largest libraries in Montreal and offers one of the largest book collections in all of Canada. This multi-level architectural wonder is more than just your regular library, it’s a cultural experience. Immerse yourself in exhibits, read up on national archives, or bask in the light shining through the stained-glass windows. FlightHub recommends snuggling into one of the many armchairs on the third floor while that overlooks one of the busy streets in Montreal.

Patisserie Au Kouign Amann

This tiny and unassuming pastry shop is tucked away on l’Avenue Mount Royal in the trendy borough of Le Plateau. Much like 12 Grimmauld Place, this shop is at times unnoticeable unless someone points it out to you. Enter this small Parisian pastry shop and immediately feel at ease and more importantly, at home. FlightHub suggests orderings one of their delicious croissants and a café au lait and take a seat beside the window. Enjoy your book and people watch the day away in this quaint and delicious shop.

Le Cagibi Café

Like many Montreal cafes, Le Cagibi is home to delicious and affordable foods, and even better coffee, but most importantly they’ll let you sit and read at your hearts content. A little more north form the busy city action, relish this undisturbed peace and read from the classics. Enjoy the high ceilings and eclectic crowd!

Parc Mont Royal

If you happen to be in Montreal during the summer months, then make sure to grab a picnic blanket and a good book and make your way to Parc Mont Royal. FlightHub thinks there’s really no better place to enjoy the sun and the city than in the park. Situated in the middle of the city, this 200-hectare park is the perfect place to lie in the sun and drown out the city noise for some good summer reading. Enjoy the Sunday drum circles at Tam Tams and let the day pass you by.
