Family Movie Night Tips and Printable Activities with Dumbo

Watching movies that the entire family can enjoy together is something our family has been sharing for years now.  With the 70th Anniversary of Dumbo on Blu-Ray, DVD, and Movie Download Disney is offering some great color printable sheets and other valuable tools to help drive home the message of the film (good until September 25th).  Disney is great about offering extras for the family that coincide with the movie.  For instance, you can make Circus Peanut Popcorn with the great recipe included in the download.

One of the main messages that Dumbo always shared was that being different isn’t a bad thing…everyone is different.  I believe it is one of the main reasons this is one of my favorite all time Disney movies.  I used this movie, many times, as a catalyst to conversations with my oldest son when he was growing up.  Whenever he had someone pick on him or whenever he picked on someone else for being different I would throw Dumbo into the VCR (yes, this was a long time ago).  As we watched the movie his dad and I would subtly point out the differences with Dumbo and how it was sad that he was being picked on and how it made him feel.  Although we never had to come right out and say it – our son always understood.  I love that about Disney – the messages are always so positive.

Be sure to celebrate the 70th Anniversary of Dumbo on DVD, movie download, or Blu-Ray and down load the printable Dumbo activities to share with the family before they expire.
