How To Make An Easter Bunny Shaped Cake

easter bunny cake

Growing up my grandmother made an Easter Cake.  She made adorable ones like the Easter Bunny Dirt Cake made by my friend Cat and she made one that looked like a bunny. Every year we make an Easter Bunny Cake to honor the tradition.  This year we decided to make a Grape flavored one featuring grape juice.  We wanted to give it a bit of that jelly bean flavor…it came out pretty good.

Easter Bunny Shaped Cake

Ingredients:

  • Cake Mix
  • 3/4 cup Welch’s 100% Grape Juice
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1 egg white
  • 1/3 cup oil

Mix all ingredients together as per package directions and bake.

Once cake has been cooled cut out ears and bow tie for your Easter Bunny.

Line a cookie sheet with foil and parchment or wax paper.

Align your cake to form a bunny.

Hopefully your bowtie will not break like mine did, but if it does don’t worry about it because frosting is like concealer for cakes!

I make homemade vanilla frosting for our cake because it is much yummier and easier to frost in my opinion.

I generally don’t like frosting from the jar because it’s way to hard and I can’t controll the sugar.

I also dyed the coconut flakes used for the bunny ears purple with Welch’s 100% Grape Juice.

We had a blast making our cake!  It had a slight grape taste – not overpowering.

I would love any feedback on our Easter Bunny Cake – do you have a special Easter tradition?

Hope you have a wonderful Easter!

  2. Oh my! That is the cutest Easter cake! I love how you showed pictures how to cut the cake. I am a very visual person and it helps me a lot to see how to cut it.

I never thought to use grape juice either.

  9. what a creative use of juice! i like that you didn’t use too much oil either! i’m always using applesauce or pumpkin or banana as lowfat subs in my recipes.

  10. Hello…thought I’d say hi while I was here from Boost Your Buzz. I saw this post…had to read. Who would have ever thought…cake made w/juice? I will have to tell my daughter…she loves grape…anything grape! Have a great weekend!

  16. Such a cute and yummy recipe for Easter. Funny thing though, we had Easter bunny cupcakes! 🙂

  17. That looks really sweet! My son would be really happy about it, I think I don’t care that easter is over, I will bake it for him!

  18. As friends and family draw together to celebrate the Easter holiday, you may be planning tasty treats the whole family can enjoy. Dyed eggs and chocolate bunnies needn’t make the whole of your Easter celebration. You can make a deliciously simple cake in the shape of the Easter Bunny and bring a touch of whimsy to your Easter table..

  19. What a cute and delicious idea! This would be perfect to make when we have guests over for Easter lunch!

  21. I want to make a Easter bunny cake this year. It would be so fun.
