What You Didn’t Know About Streamsong Resort
Listed as GOLF Magazine’s Top 100 Courses You Can Play, Streamsong Resort is much more than golf. Granted their famous Streamsong Red and Streamsong Blue (ranked 10 and 14 respectively) are any golf lovers dream courses, their soon to be revealed Streamsong Black course is already the talk of the golfing world even before it debuts September 29th. However, Streamsong is so much more than golf. It’s tantalizing food from restaurants like SottoTerra Ristorante™ to Restaurant Fifty-Nine™. It’s recreational choices from guided bass fishing to shooting sporting clays. It’s relaxing and enjoying the 16,000 acres of the former phosphate mine land while soaking up the scenery in the infinity pool or being pampered in the AcquaPietra Spa.
Streamsong Resort and Spa is owned by The Mosaic Company and designed by the Alfonso Architects from the Tampa area. We escaped there for a quick staycation last week and learned a bit about the thought that went into the design of the resort. It’s a story that is masterfully told by the employees and you can find the smallest of details throughout the resort that brings the story to life. The resort is built playing off the history of the land with the resort being the tree and begins with the submersion level where you find huge concrete (tree) columns, it goes onto the bank, up through the canopy (the view from the rooms through the huge vertical wood slats, and finally the sky. It’s an amazing story that I can’t begin to tell you. Unless you can see the small details in person, you cannot truly appreciate it.
SottoTerra Ristorante™ sits on the bottom (submersion) level of the resort. The food is absolutely amazing. Although they did feature an evening special, I choose the sea scallops. Open for dinner only (6pm – 10pm), Tuesday – Saturday, this is a perfect place for a romantic dinner. My entree featured linguini pasta with pan seared scallops and hazelnut pesto with baby heirloom tomatoes. The scallops were seared to perfection and the portion size was plentiful. It’s a meal I would definitely order again and I look forward to returning to see what delightful dishes the chef comes up with on my next visit.
On the same level of the resort, I was treated to a spa treatment at AcquaPietra Spa. The way the spa was set up really highlighted the theme of submersion with six small caverns of varying temperature pools. You will also find a dry and steam sauna to help you relax even more. The spa services vary from massages and facials to hair and nails. I was blessed with a tranquil aromatherapy massage that almost put me to sleep. When all is said and done, escaping to StreamSong® for a quick getaway, surrounded by nature and enjoying their activities (such as the infinity pool), I can’t think of anywhere else I’d rather be. This is a place you have to experience. I would go as far as to recommend you put it on that travel bucketlist. You deserve it!
