Let’s Change the World: Disconnect and Live Life Outside #LiveLifeOutside

Disclosure: I participated in an Influencer Activation on behalf of Influence Central for TruGreen. I received a promotional item to thank me for my participation.

One of the biggest changes we made this year is the commitment to disconnect and live life outside. We did this way before TruGreen contacted us to write about their recent study and we did it for all the reason their study found were important. We recently moved out of a house that was heavily shaded into a home with a nice lawn and a golf course right in our back yard. Like TruGreen we believe more life should be lived outside and that having a nice lawn inspired us to do more outside with friends, family, and even our neighbors.  Not only does the gorgeous sunshine help with our moods and health but the feeling of fresh grass and clean outdoor air does so much for you. The benefits cannot be ignored.

This year we have been spending our time just relaxing in the hammock, grilling out, and walking in our neighborhood (something we couldn’t do before we moved).  It’s amazing how it has made us all feel so much closer as a family. We’ve disconnected from our devices, left the phones inside and just started hanging out together!

Now that summer is here in Florida we will be spending time outdoors kayaking, throwing the football, swinging, and building bonfires. We plan on have lots of great bbq’s with friends and family and enjoying the time together with no devices to distract us!  Here are some tips on how to make your yard perfect for this summer’s entertaining:

  • Be sure your mowing your lawn on the right setting. If you mow your lawn too low it will burn from the sun and die.
  • Keep your mower blade sharp. Dull blades cut the grass unevenly and give it a ragged look.
  • Water your lawn regularly according to your needs.
  • Have TruGreen come out and give you a FREE estimate on what would work best for your lawn.

What are your plans to enjoy your yard this summer?

Our grass is terrible in our new house. When we lived up North it was luxurious. The grass in the South if very different.
We still spend a lot of time outside and your article was very interesting.

  2. I’m with you here. Summer is always a great time to go out. My kids on the other hand not so much. Back when they were younger they did play outside more but nowadays they’re stuck with their mobile devices.
