Buying The Perfect Gift For Your Husband

Buying The Perfect Gift For Your Husband

If you’re a woman, buying the right gift for your husband can be a daunting experience. Men aren’t that easy to shop for at the best of times. But with the added pressure of feeling you should know him well enough to pick the right thing, the whole process can be stressful without the proper guidance.

Ask Him

This may seem like a bit of an easy way out, but if you really don’t want to run the risk of buying him something he’ll hate, it’s worth considering. You don’t want to splash out hundreds of dollars on a beautiful silver watch, only to find that he’d rather have had two tickets to the football. Of course it depends entirely on the type of man your husband is though. If he’s somewhat of an incurable romantic or sentimentalist, he’ll more than likely prefer a surprise. It is the thought that counts, after all.

Take Notice of His Hobbies

Whilst your husband’s hobbies, pastimes or obsessions (as you may think of them) might not be your cup of tea, there is great benefit in paying attention from time to time. If for example your husband collects DVDs or rare records, it is well worth spending a bit of time around him when he is indulging in these pastimes. Without being to obvious, try to show a little interest and see if you can get a few firm ideas as to what is missing from his collection. The chances are there will be a couple of items that he simply can’t get hold of or can’t afford. So it will be a wonderful surprise for him to find that you’ve tracked them down for his birthday.

Phone a Friend

If you’re concerned that your new-found interest in his hobbies might draw too much suspicion from your husband, get in contact with a good friend who shares the same hobbies. Men with pastimes and obsessions will always discuss their latest purchases or indeed the objects they’d love to someday acquire. So getting in touch with his closest pals is an ideal way to get the right gift without having to interrogate the man himself.

Know Your Man

All of the above suggestions are effective, but your approach largely depends on what kind of person your husband is and the relationship you have with him. Some men don’t take gifts too seriously (in which case the first option may be fine), others are sentimental and love the thought that goes into a gift, however misguided it might end up being.
