The Big Fat Truth

Disclosure: This post is part of a paid campaign with Z Living through my association with BlogHer.

Those of you who know me personally or who have been following my blog over the years know I struggle with my weight. Ever since my first son was born over 24 years ago it’s been a struggle for me. My weight gain has actually caused other health related problems that have really opened my eyes as of late. In the past year I’ve been diagnosed with diabetes and some pretty serious back issues that could possibly lead to surgery down the road.

Since discovering some of these and other issues related to my weight and unhealthy habits, I’ve made some pretty big decisions. I’ve started physical therapy to help me get some mobility back and to make it easier for me to move and lose weight. However, I’ve always been a firm believer that losing weight is more than just going on a diet. For many, myself included, it’s a constant struggle. Not only do I need to be mindful of what’s causing my fluctuations in my weight, but I have to continuously find tools and motivation to stay on track. It’s always been a battle for me. I’ve discovered that one of the things that really influence my bad behaviors is being unhappy. Whether that unhappiness is due to my relationships, my own self-esteem, or if it’s just not being where I want to be in life, it all has a direct influence on my health. Now there is a show that addresses these real issues that people like I deal with and helps give them the tools and the optimism they need to transform their lives featuring the award-winning producer JD Roth.

JD Roth became a reality TV pioneer, championing “transformation television” and now he is the executive producer and host of the new reality series The Big Fat Truth on Z Living. The show is based on his recently released book of the same name. The Big Fat Truth airs on Sundays at 8 pm ET. Some of the upcoming episodes include great challenges including overweight diabetics, nurses, and moms as contestants. Each week JD will guide and mentor the groups of overweight participants, posing challenges and providing the tools they need to accomplish their health and weight loss goals. All of these different groups fit into my life since I work in a skilled nursing facility and I’m both a diabetic and a mom.  I can’t wait to see what great tips and tricks I can learn that will help me break my own bad habits that are detrimental and damaging to my health.
