A Little Less Worry with Torch

The world has changed since I was running around with my friends after school. You can’t seem to find any kids outside playing, riding bikes, or getting into harmless mischief. I loved growing up in that time period, but now I can reflect upon it and realize my parents probably had similar thoughts of when they were young. Today, it’s nearly impossible to get my son to want to do something other than play Minecraft or the like and although it does have a ton of benefits, there are hidden dangers living in the digital age.

Staying up-to-date on my son’s digital thumbprint can be difficult because there are so many ways for people to find the information they are seeking and I don’t feel comfortable completely restricting his life online.

So what do you do?

You rely on Torch to help your kid explore the online world safely.

Torch is a router with parenting tools built right in. Things such as limiting internet access to certain times (when you are home, before dinner only, or whatever you need), filtering of content, and reports (so you know where and what they are doing). Torch give you peace of mind and allows you the same parental supervision online that you have offline. My favorite feature is the ability to restrict internet access to when it is appropriate and can be monitored.  The brand is focused on building an online community that encourages discussion around Internet safety and related issues so that as parents we can discuss these issues openly with our children. Giving us the tools we need to ensure the digital footprint of our children is clean and helping us to teach them how to be good digital citizens. That’s truly empowering!

Do you worry about your child’s safety online?

  1. What a clever little router! Nowadays, it’s so important to keep the kids safe when they’re online! This sounds like a great way to keep them protected!

  2. I am all for technology that gives parents more control over their children’s internet access! There are so many questionable websites, and even just keeping track of how much time they’re spending online is a so important.

I love that this gives me peace of mind when my little guys are on the internet. They are only 4 and 8 right now so it is pretty much just them playing ABC mouse, but in a few years I worry about my oldest

  4. WE need all the help we can get to protect our kids. I love how it gives all the stats on the internet activity

  5. Looks like a great tool for protecting children from the dangers of the Internet, good way to limit tech use as well 🙂

  6. Torch sound like a great router with all the safety features. Parents need all the help they can get when it comes to keeping the kids safe on the internet. I’ll tell my daughter about this.

  7. I love this idea especially for when my kids get older and I might not be around to limit the time myself (working). This would be great!! I’m going to check into this.

  8. I think monitoring how much time is spent online is great! I’m not a parent yet, but I don’t necessarily agree with watching every single thing your child does online. Just for the fact that if they don’t feel comfortable in their own home, they’ll do things you frown upon at other places. Growing up my parents asked what I was doing online and I always told them with no issues. And because they trusted me I knew I could go to them with any question.

  9. Wow this sounds great! I need to tell my husband about this, he is the gadget guy!

I totally need to get one of these for my home. This sounds really helpful.

  11. This is really cool. We’re entering the age where my oldest is using the computer and I haven’t fully set up parental controls. This would be really useful!

  12. this is so cool. I actually don’t allow my kids to be online or on electronics that much so the stats don’t include my kids. They ASK to go outside and play and they don’t know it yet but we bought them each new bikes for Christmas (stores at Grandma’s house right now)!! That doesn’t take away from how great this router is. I love that you can keep track of what your kids are doing and block content and times.

  13. It would be interesting to see what the kids have the most interest in. I have parental controls on, even for the teen, but you could use it to foster their love of learning about a particular topic or to bond with them too. 🙂

This sounds amazing for parents with children. It is so important for any parent to protect their children from those trying to harm them through social media. I love that the parental controls are built right in to the router.

  15. I’ll have to look into this for the grand kids. I’ll pass this along to family and friends as well. This sounds like a much needed router.

  16. Both our kids have I Pad minis and this would be a wonderful tool to help keep them safe. I will be ordering one asap.
