Our 2017 Resolutions for Pet Health

Disclosure: My fur-babies and I are Petcurean Blogger Advocates, and this post is sponsored by Petcurean. However, these posts include our personal opinions.

Every year we think about all the things we are doing to do to become healthier in the new year, but this year my focus is on keeping all my fur-babies healthy. Thinking about our own food intake, weight, and oral health is important but our cats and dogs need the same considerations. I urge you this year to be your own pet advocate and ensure your furry family members are being the healthiest they can be by considering the following:

  1. The Humanization of Pet Food: Do you know what’s in your pet’s food? Take a look at the ingredients, and you might be shocked (check out this guide for reading the ingredients)! This year, switch your pets to a premium quality brand like Petcurean. Find the perfect pet food using Petcurean’s Food Finder. Gather is the preferred food for our kitties. They LOVE it! I challenge you to try it and you’ll know the difference the minute you open the bag! Gather by Petcurean
  2. Don’t Forget Oral Health: Many pet owners don’t realize the importance of oral health for their pet’s overall well-being. A healthy set of choppers and gums enables your pet to grind up his food with ease. This aids digestion by allowing the enzymes in the stomach to do their job. As a human you know how miserable you can be when you have a toothache, well our furry family members are no different, and it’s our obligation to ensure they have the best oral care.
  3. Watch the Scale: Weight management isn’t just for humans. In fact, it’s estimated 54% of dogs and 58% of cats are overweight or obese, and according to Data from Nationwide, pet obesity is on the rise for the sixth straight year. Obesity is a significant risk factor for many life-threatening diseases that affect dogs and cats, but with diligence and effort, your pet can lose weight too. This seems to be the harder of the three for us humans, but by feeding our fur-babies the right food, in the right quantity, and ensuring they are getting the exercise, we can keep the weight off of them. Joining our pets by going for walks or run around outdoors with them, we can all keep the weight off! One of our favorite things to do, when we lived in Georgia, was to go hiking with the dogs.

Petcurean treats your fur babies just like they are your children so print out this article and treat it like it came from your pediatrician. Thanks for the tips.

  2. Pet owners really need to educate themselves about what’s in pet food and treats. I had a Bulldog that was constantly breaking out in rashes. The vet kept prescribing meds which didn’t help so I began thinking maybe it’s something in the food I’m giving her. I quickly realized it was the brand of treats I was giving her that caused the rashes. I stopped giving her that particular brand of treats and the rashes stopped.
