They reached out to us for a sponsored post and asked us to share how our tween feels about self-expression and I thought it was a great opportunity for me to really look at him and how he has changed over the years. His birthday was just a couple weeks ago and, as he sleeps I look at him and realize he is no longer that little boy that looked to me and his dad to see how he was supposed to react to the world. He is growing into his own skin. He is expressing his likes, dislikes, and he is becoming very articulit at letting us know how he feels.
When I looked at my Tween I realized I’m doing a pretty good job at raising a pretty amazing young man. He loves to make people laugh by being a goof but he gets the most satisfaction out of helping others and teaching his friends how to do things, like play video games. I watch him now and see how he goes out of his way to open the car door for his grandma or carry the bags for his teacher at church. He isn’t much like me, but that’s okay because he is perfectly him. He isn’t afraid to be himself either and that’s truly inspiring in today’s day and age.
So was I surprised when he enjoyed the vibrant designs of the New Fruitocracy? Not at all. His favorite was the Apple Strawberry, but he liked them all (the Apple, Apple Banana, Apple Mixed Berry, Apple Pineapple, Apple Strawberry, and Apple Cherry). I feel good encouraging him to enjoy a non-high fructose corn syrup and non-GMO snack that’s easy to grab as he runs out the door to go try something new.
